Delete your Threadworks account and data

App: Threadworks (com.northernpixel.threadworks) — Developer: Northern Pixel (Haydn Chapman)

This page explains how to delete your Threadworks account and the data associated with it, what gets deleted, and what we have to keep.

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app

This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately.

  1. Open Threadworks.
  2. Go to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Account.
  4. Tap Delete account.
  5. Confirm when asked.

Your account and everything listed under What we delete below are removed straight away, and you are signed out.

Option 2 — Request deletion by email

Use this if you have already uninstalled the app, cannot sign in, or would simply rather we did it.

  1. Email [email protected] from the email address your Threadworks account uses. We can only act on a request from that address — it is the only way we can confirm the account is yours.
  2. Put "Delete my account" in the subject line.
  3. We will delete the account and confirm by reply.

We action these within 30 days, and normally within a few working days.

What we delete

Everything below is deleted permanently and cannot be recovered:

Data What it includes
Your account Email address, first and last name, display name, marketing preference
Synced designs Pattern data, stitch progress and design names stored in the cloud
Uploaded images Reference photographs you imported, and generated pattern images
Device records Device identifiers, device names and sign-in sessions
Subscription record Your Threadworks+ status and unlocked patterns
Purchase event records The raw purchase notifications we received from the app store
Published patterns Any patterns you published are withdrawn and stop being viewable

We also ask our providers to delete the copies they hold:

  • RevenueCat (subscriptions) — the subscriber record, including your email address and name.
  • PostHog (analytics) — the record associated with your account.

What we keep, and for how long

Data Why How long
A minimal record of subscription transfers — an anonymous account number, a store transaction number and a date. No name, no email address. To stop the same purchase being claimed repeatedly across accounts. Once your account is deleted, the account number no longer identifies anyone. Indefinitely
Purchase and payment records We are legally required to keep these for tax and accounting As required by law, normally 6 years
Crash reports These are not linked to your name, email or account — we deliberately strip that out before they are sent Up to 90 days, then deleted automatically

Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Google Play or the App Store, and only they can cancel one — see Cancel a subscription below.

Data on your device

Patterns, stitch progress and settings saved on your phone or tablet are stored on the device itself, not on our servers, so deleting your account does not remove them.

To remove that data, uninstall the app. Uninstalling deletes everything Threadworks has stored locally.

Note this works the other way round too: uninstalling the app on its own does not delete your account or anything synced to the cloud. If you want both gone, delete the account first, then uninstall.

Deleting some data without deleting your account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove or stop some data:

  • Individual designs — delete them in My Gallery; this removes the cloud copy too if you have sync on.
  • Published patterns — unpublish a pattern to withdraw it.
  • Usage analytics — turn off Settings → Privacy and Legal → Share usage analytics to stop collection, and email us to have past analytics deleted.
  • Marketing email — turn off the marketing option in Settings → Account at any time.
  • Advertising — change or withdraw ad consent in Settings → Privacy and Legal → Ad privacy options.

You can also download a copy of everything we hold about you first: Settings → Privacy and Legal → Download my data.

Cancel a subscription

Threadworks+ is billed by the app store, not by us, so we cannot cancel it for you:

  • Google Play — Play Store → profile icon → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Threadworks → Cancel.
  • App Store — Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Threadworks → Cancel.

Cancel before deleting your account, or billing continues.
